The first time he appeared in video games was in 1991's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.
It is sometimes said that he goes by the name "long-arm" and that he is capable of stretching his limbs while fighting. This character is a mystical yogi beloved by his family and villagers alike. He is also a pacifist who enters the World Warrior tournament against his beliefs to raise money for his village. Dhalsim has developed a wide array of projectiles, unique movements, and multifarious normal attacks that threaten almost every corner of the stage.

Yoga Fire and Yoga Firelame are powerful special moves that allow him to attack his enemy from a distance and prevent air attacks.
As Dhalsim uses his long arms and legs to force blunders, he can usually use a mixup attack to win the game. He usually uses his impressive attack techniques to do so. In his role as a master of the art of yoga, Dhalsim is all about patient play and dedicated but rewarding movements.
